Ski Mask the Slump God Put on a Rager at Fillmore Detroit

After releasing his fifth studio album, ‘11th Dimension,’ the rapper known as Ski Mask the Slump God embarked on his first headlining tour since 2018 with one of the stops at The Fillmore Detroit on August 1.

DJ SCHEME

Florida producer DJ Scheme took on the stage to mix a selection of songs that would be sure to get the crowd moving, playing hits such as “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar and “#ImSippinTeaInYoHood” by xxxTentacion.

The artist also included songs from hit albums ‘Stokely’ and ‘You Will Regret,’ covering songs released on these albums with artists xxxTentacion and Juice WRLD in their memory. During these tributes, the DJ had images of the gone-too-soon rappers projected onto the screen behind him while he performed those tracks.

DANNY TOWERS

Known collaborator of xxxTentacion and DJ Scheme, Danny Towers, joined the party and brought his energy to the stage, showing why he had the caliber to rock with the gone but not forgotten hero. Though many did not recognize him at first, with tracks like “E-Er” and “Florida Water,” and his signature voice, people realized they knew his music, and vibed away.

MOLLY SANTANA

Japanese American hip-hop artist, Molly Santana, who you may know from other rap shows or even social media, where she used to be a streetwear influencer, held her own on stage while performing for this rowdy crowd. Her stage presence garnered a lot of attention from the crowd, many were commenting on her appearance and the way she carried herself. We may not know a lot about Molly, but we do know she is going to become a recognizable name in the industry.

Some of her highlight songs include “Chain Swangin,” “Black Ops,” and “Amnesia.”

HARDROCK

This 19-year-old rapper, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, will surely become a staple in the industry. Hardrock gathers inspiration from artists like Playboi Carti and Future to create original tracks such as songs “bleh,” “1of1,” and “feel alive.” Hardrock experiments with his music, using a mix of adlibs and autotune to curate his tracks.

SKI MASK THE SLUMP GOD

Although we were unable to photograph this performance due to last-minute changes in the photo policy, we’re are proud to say we were lucky enough to be able to experience it!

As far as his performance, Ski Mask’s energy kept the crowd alive throughout the night, even switching between different genres to make sure everybody in the audience was engaged. During harder songs, such as “Take a Step Back” and “Off the Wall,” there were even mosh pits! Many fans got emotional during these acts as well, crying and some even praying when they heard homage tracks to X and Juice.

With that much high energy and interaction from the crowd, we would have to say it was a performance that many will not forget.
