Silverstein and Thursday Celebrate Killer Catalogs at Royal Oak Music Theatre
Post-Hardcore was in full swing at Royal Oak Music Theatre on February 12 with Silverstein celebrating 25 years of Noise, with special guests who are no strangers to the genre, Thursday.
Along with Arm’s Length and Split Chain, the stage was graced by a 4-band night of action, introducing fresh songs and crowd favorites to the audience – an audience SO dedicated that they braved a winter snowstorm that borderline on dangerous just to be there.
THURSDAY
Back in April 2024, Thursday started releasing new music, starting with “Application for Release from the Dream,” which was their first new drop in 13 years. Since, they’ve released two additional songs, “White Bikes” and “Taking Inventory of a Frozen Lake.” The band hasn’t noted that there’s a new album on the way, but we’ll gladly accept new singles as they come from the band if it means we get to see their ferocious energy.
They of course, also serviced their fans from day 1, by making sure to include songs like “Understanding In A Car Crash” and “War All The Time” which had fans screaming at the top of their lungs. Some people may be sick of nostalgia, but emo and post-hardcore fans are not those people, that’s for sure.

SILVERSTEIN
Silverstein has a set of rabid fans that have maintained loyalty for decades. Titling their tour ’25 Years of Noise,’ they began the set with an intro of vintage films over the course of their career. As someone who was present in the genre at that time, I couldn’t help but smile at this intro film. It encapsulated a time that was so much easier than now, but also embodied what Silverstein represented, not only to the band but their fan base.
Shane Told donned a jacket with the tick-mark graphics used on their video walls during their performance, and their ferocious energy got the crowd surfing and fans raging though the set. It was almost balmy how warm it got once the band began, and watching Told throw himself around the stage, it was hard to keep up with him. By the end of the third song, he had his hands and head on the riser, screaming his lungs out. You have to admit, sometimes photographers truly get the best view, because we can see up close how hard these musicians go for their fans.
Their set covered a vast amount of their discography, including fan favorites like “The Afterglow,” “Your Sword Versus My Daggar,” “Call It Karma,” and “Smile In Your Sleep.” And of course, the band closed out the show with their biggest bangers, an acoustic version of “My Heroine,” as well as “Smashed Into Pieces” and “Bleeds No More.”
The band is going to be on the road for quite some time, so if you missed out on this Royal Oak date, check out the next date that comes close to you at the tour dates below. This is a show you do not want to skip out on!
