Princess Goes Rocks The Magic Bag
Fans headed to The Magic Bag on Sunday, August 18 for Princess Goes with special guest Synthia Looper and had a grand time!

According to her website, “Synthia Looper is a musician, performance artist, and world builder out of Flint, Michigan whose music is a blend of dark, edgy, synthpop and dreamy electronica. She sings songs of vengeance, loss, love, lust, sexuality, mental anguish, and equality alongside her companion, Aux Looper. Together, they use a loop station, voice FX, sampler, and an electric guitar.”
Her stage show for Sunday evening included 2 light-up fox heads that were positioned on either side of the stage, draped with twinkle lights, and her performance was mostly dark synths with slower melodies. There was one song that was particularly upbeat, which Looper said reminded her of roller rinks in the 90s. She set the tone for what was to come with Princess Goes, and thanked the crowd for allowing her to entertain at The Magic Bag for a second time.
PRINCESS GOES

Princess Goes is made up of Michael C. Hall, who you may know from the hit TV show “Dexter,” who performs the vocals, keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, who has been part of Blondie and Cyndi Lauper’s bands, and drummer Peter Yanowitz, who has done time in The Wallflowers and Morningwood.
Their catalog is filled with a darkwave synthpop sound, which is highly entertaining and surprising, as Hall emotes in such a way that you can understand he’s feeding his emotions through it. The band debuted in 2018, and on their fandom wiki, it’s noted that each band member has their own alias in the band. “Hall is Kaleidoscope, Katz-Bohen is Storm Eye, and Yanowitz is Dream Weaver.”
The band has a great technical presence, and their light show is top-tier and syncs to their sounds. While we’d not heard a ton of Princess Goes tracks prior to the performance, we highly suggest after hearing the setlist live that you should check them out!
The setlist for The Magic Bag wasn’t uploaded online, so here is a setlist from a few nights prior:
