“Michigan students, families, educators, and citizens are invited to gather joyfully, in celebration and solidarity, on the steps of the State Capitol in Lansing for People for Public Education, a free, statewide event dedicated to celebrating and strengthening public education across Michigan.

This powerful public rally will bring together a diverse lineup of speakers, including students, teachers, education advocates, and state lawmakers. Representatives and senators from across Michigan will be present to show their support and hear directly from those who live and breathe the reality of our public schools every day.

People for Public Education is about amplifying the voices of our communities and reminding policymakers that strong public schools are the backbone of a strong Michigan, and across the country.

The event will feature live performances, student showcases, and information tables hosted by education and community organizations. Several organizations will be onsite to provide information, to promote opportunities for action and to continue building community awareness. Attendees are encouraged to wear school colors, bring handmade signs, and proudly represent their school districts.

Join us in making public education a top priority in Michigan—because our future depends on it. This event is about the work educators and communities do for public education and the people impacted by the endless benefits of it.
