MGK and Wiz Khalifa Stun Pine Knob With Eclectic Star Power
MGK (Machine Gun Kelly), Wiz Khalifa, and Mod Sun hit Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan, on June 16 and put on a killer performance for attendees before the weather decided it would literally rain on the parade.
MOD SUN
The show kicked off with Mod Sun, who has historically been close with MGK for many years, including assisting with one of the songs that Mod Sun considers his best song, “Sunshine.” His energy and ferocity shone through in his stage presence; everyone was significantly hyped for the rest of the evening.
WIZ KHALIFA
You will never hear anyone say they had a bad time at a Wiz Khalifa show. Putting on a show-stopper of a set, Wiz Khalifa with a blunt in hand, kicked through some of his best joints, including “No Sleep,” “Black And Yellow,” “See You Again,” and “Young, Wild & Free.”
MGK
People constantly hate on MGK but even with his tabloids of the past, how can you hate on someone who’s this talented? There were always jokes about how MGK had to “run to another genre” after “biting off more than he could chew” in rap battling Detroit’s own Eminem, but selling out the biggest amphitheatre in the same state proves that Machine Gun Kelly has “it” and enough fans willing to enjoy it in Michigan.
Unfortunately, an unwanted guest showed up: The Rain. Throughout the event, there was a shelter-in-place and incliment weather, and though Colson was able to make it through 17 tracks, he’d have played 34 if the following day’s set at Grand Rapids’ Acrisure Ampitheater was any indication.
The songs that did get played included his newest with Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst called “FIX UR FACE,” followed by songs like “Wild Boy,” “El Diablo” (in which he has a coffee roast in the same namesake under his 27 Club Coffee brand), and even performed a few tracks with Wiz Khalifa including “girl next door,” “everything tatted,” and “mind of a stoner.”
The set ended with “drunk face” from MGK’s first pop-punk album, ‘Tickets To My Downfall,’ before the rest of the show got called for lightning and rain. Footage was released on social media of Kells visibly frustrated that he couldn’t keep the show going, and was very upset that this sold-out show got thwarted by the rain.

While we understand that it stinks to have a show end extremely early, we understand the venue policies and that Pine Knob was trying to keep everyone safe. Many people found their way to the next date in Grand Rapids to make up for what they missed, while others hope to see more of MGK in the future.
