Jet and Band of Skulls Keep the Rock Rollin’ at Fillmore Detroit
Jet and Band of Skulls shredded and shook at The Fillmore Detroit on Friday, July 6 to an enthusiastic audience that was ready to jam.
BAND OF SKULLS
Kicking off the night was Band of Skulls. Though they aren’t a household name, they are a stellar performance and have their own roster of iconic songs for their fan base. For me in particular, I recall having “I Know What I Am” from a free iTunes download in the 2010’s, and fans were hype to hear songs like “Sweet Sour,” “You’re Not Pretty But You Got It Goin’ On,” and “Love is All You Love.”
At one point, someone in the audience yelled at the band some expletives with their “I Love You,” in which the band replied. Check out their full setlist here:
JET
Jet hasn’t missed a step. Coming out swinging, the band played “Last Chance” off of their acclaimed album ‘Get Born’ to set the tone.
Kicking through their setlist, they played every song you could hope to hear from the band. Surprisingly, they nestled a 3-track pack at 8, 9, and 10 by playing “Look What You’ve Done,” “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?,” and “Rollover D.J.” which got the crowd going with hands in the air.
The rest of the set was also stacked with mostly ‘Get Born’ tracks (no complaints there, we love “Cold Hard Bitch), but the few highlights from other albums included “Rip It Up” and “That’s All Lies” from ‘Shine On,’ plus “She’s A Genius” and “Black Hearts (On Fire)” off of ‘Shaka Rock.’
They were absolutely worth capturing and witnessing, especially for the nostalgic. The 2000s had such an interesting musical palate, and Jet cemented themselves as icons of that era.
