Astronomicon 2023: Cosplays, Celebs, and Thundersnow
Astronomicon is always a highlight for the Michigan area, combining Celebrity Guests, Horror, Pop Culture, and of course, Twiztid fans.
Astromicon 2023 had con-goers returning to Burton Manor in Livonia, but Friday night’s weather caused complications for attendees, and unfortunately the guests. The drive over was atrocious due to a snowstorm that created what was dubbed “thundersnow” on social media, causing some to stay home, while others braved the elements.
The following day was met with an overflow of attendees, many of which were geared up to be graced with the presence of the View Askewniverse leader, Kevin Smith. Unfortunately, due to the weather, both Kevin Smith and ‘Mallrats’ actor Jason Lee were unable to get to Detroit because of our weather and sent regards to the attendees.

While this was a setback, the rest of the con was a delight to enjoy. Cosplayers rocked their best outfits, fans got to connect with wrestling legends like Trish Stratus, The Godfather, Rikishi, and Sabu, as well as actors, comic book creators, and more. One of the highlights of the weekend was the ‘Clerks’ panel, in which Brian O’Halloran, Trevor Fehrman, Austin Zajur, and Jeff Anderson talked about the closing chapter of their character’s roles with ‘Clerks III.’
Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson also answered the age-old question: How common is it for fans to ask Brian if he “was supposed to be there today?”
