Ab-Soul and Fresh Hit The Lyrical Vibe at The Shelter
The Shelter, which is in the basement of St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit played host to legendary lyricist Ab-Soul with special guest Fresh on June 4.

The crowd was in rare form for a show, at least in our eyes. Because The Shelter is such an intimate space, it made it very easy for the crowd to interact with Fresh, who opened up for Ab-Soul. He showed his well-rounded sound with the crowd, as well as a few jokes, warming everyone up for the spectacle to come.
AB-SOUL
When Ab-Soul took the stage, he gauged the crowd with both mellow and harder tracks. He also allowed a fan to come up on stage to rap with him, as well as join the crowd by hopping off the stage to stand in a circle of fans taking it all in. It felt more like a hometown show, despite the fact that Ab-Soul is from Los Angeles.

With all of the music he’s put out over the years, plus his star-studded collaborations, it’s hard to deny that we were getting a special experience to have this close access to this type of talent. Plus, with all the rappers that have come through The Shelter over the years, it feels more like a church than it does just a normal show.
