X Ambassadors & New West Excite Fans at St. Andrew’s Hall
A warm Friday evening brought the masses into Saint Andrew’s Hall as X Ambassadors marked their return to the city after three long years. Eager fans filled the venue to celebrate the release of the band’s latest album, Townie.
NEW WEST
New West was an exceptional opener to kick off the night. They set the stage on fire with their crazy energy. The singer, Kala Wita, was jumping around, getting into the photographers’ lenses and climbing up onto the barricade in front of the crowd. This was truly an unexpected performance, but it easily makes New West one of the best openers we’ve seen in a while.
X AMBASSADORS
The crowd was eager for X Ambassadors to finally hit the stage around 9:15PM. The band consists of Sam Harris on guitar and vocals, Casey Harris on keyboard, and Adam Levin on drums. Casey has been blind since he was born, but you would never know by the way he comes alive when performing. His talent on the keys is exceptional. The whole band is a well-oiled machine and just a joy to watch. They started their set with one of their biggest hits, Renegades. We thought for sure this one would have been played near the end of the set, but it was their opener. It was a welcome surprise, though!
X Ambassadors continued to surprise fans throughout their performance. They played a ton of songs from their new record such as ‘Smoke on the Highway’, ‘Half-Life’ and ‘Start a Band’. Fans really erupted when frontman Sam Harris sang out the beginning vocals of ‘Unsteady’. The band then pulled out ‘Jungle’ and ‘Gorgeous’, which are some older songs from their catalog, as an encore. X Ambassadors not only showcased their incredible talent but also expressed immense gratitude to their fans for the years of support. Their undeniable charm made for a thoroughly enjoyable performance.
