Sleep & Third Man Records Release Pot Leaf Vinyl

Sleep and Third Man Records released an authentic cannabis leaf-laced PVC vinyl exclusively at Third Man’s Detroit storefront on Saturday, August 26.

420 enthusiasts and fans of the band Sleep lined up on the street as early as 8 AM to get their hands on a copy.

According to Third Man Records website, the vinyl was created at the Third Man Pressing in Detroit in partnership with Doghouse Farms Premium Cannabis. Due to the materials, they were only able to be purchased in Detroit.

There were a couple of reports socially that some of the vinyls had imperfections when it came to play, but with our test on our vinyl, we are happy to report no noticeable playback issues on the almost 17-minute track, labeled “Leaves Beneath” for the track “Leagues Beneath.”

This is not the first time that Sleep has done this with an album, or with Third Man Records.

TMR says “Approximately one year ago, Sleep and Third Man Records delighted the world with their earth-shattering release of the Weedian High-Fi edition of their classic album Dopesmoker. Highlighting an idea hatched by the band and a process perfected by the vinyl experts at Third Man Pressing in Detroit, the double LP featured the iconic, seven-pointed cannabis leaf embedded into the vinyl disc itself, a music industry first.”

Given that no two vinyls look alike, and they were limited to only 400 copies, even fans who aren’t crazy into the band Sleep will have a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
