Ryan Jay & The Wrecking Krew played the Jim Beam National Stage on Sunday afternoon at Arts, Beats, and Eats 2023.
For those of you who know this publication, we rarely cover Country Music unless there’s a Pop Culture or crossover reason, but one of the other photographers who was on-site talked us into coming to check out Ryan Jay & The Wrecking Krew, as he’d met them at the radio station.
Turns out, they are pretty awesome and present almost in a Motor City Punk Rock style. 2 band members easily could have been in Pop Punk bands, while Ryan Jay himself had the swagger of a Rockabilly Star.
What really won us over? This writer grew up on 90’s Country, and has a love of Brooks & Dunn. They played a later hit, “Play Something Country,” and covered the native son Bob Seger in a rendition of “Turn The Page.” And of course, they rocked out with their own originals.
