PHOTOS: Lincoln Park High School Students Stage Anti-ICE Walk Out

Students at Lincoln Park High School walked out of class at 2:15 on Friday, February 20, in protest of ICE. We received a tip from a student that this was going to occur, and were alerted that the group planned to walk down Champaign Road with their signs.

Standing on the sidewalk, the students waved signs condemning ICE’s mistreatment of the Hispanic community in the area. A set of students who had driver’s licenses drove other student passengers with signs and Mexican flags down the road and into the parking lot behind the sidewalk, where everyone else gathered.

For the safety of the students of Lincoln Park High School, faces have been blurred and or hidden to conceal identities.

This isn’t the first student walk-out we have heard of in the state of Michigan, and we do not think it will be the last, considering the recent news of ICE signing a federal lease for an office in Southfield, Michigan, as well as the recent purchase of a former Amazon facility location to be converted to an ICE detention center in Romulus, Michigan.

NOTE: A NON-STUDENT RUN EFFORT WITH MULTIPLE GROUPS IS GATHERING THIS MONDAY AT 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO OPPOSE ICE INFILTRATING THE METRO DETROIT AREA. AMPLIFY IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND.
