Mac Saturn Delivers on Sold Out Show at Saint Andrew’s Hall
I stood downstairs at Saint Andrew’s Hall watching the screen as Mac Saturn is tearing the house down. I was next to another photographer who loves the band just as much as I do, and say “It’s such a weird feeling to watch guys you know become legends.”
If you have followed ACRONYM for some time, you know that I love Mac Saturn, and have been following them as they’ve come up in the scene. The swagger of the band, the overall look and feel, the killer licks, and the transportive vibe really moves you as you watch them do what they do best.
The energy was buzzing as the pre-show gathering begins. Early arrivals are dazzled by Drey Skonie & The Klouds (read their review here). People are grabbing their drinks, meeting with friends, and itching to hear the jams. Some fans caught a glimpse of Carson (the lead singer) prior to the show and were able to snap pictures with him at the bar. Hell, even one of the pieces of merch sold out long before stage time for the band.
They’re probably sick of hearing this, but this is exactly how it went for another Michigan export: Greta Van Fleet. One day they’re playing local venues, next they’re in arenas. With their most recent tour stint with Dirty Honey and Dorothy, the band’s notoriety has gone up in such a quick time frame. In 2021, they were playing the local stage of 101 WRIF’s Riff Fest and Royal Oak’s Arts, Beats, and Eats, and truth be told, by next year, there’s no way they’ll be at a small venue.
Kicking off the set with “Diamonds,” jamming through “Ain’t Like You” (my personal favorite), and other killer tracks from their ‘Until The Money Runs Out’ EP, they command the room who’d been chanting moments prior “WE WANT MAC! WE WANT MAC!”
A stellar surprise, Carson Mac shares a quote from Bob Seger, Michigan’s legend himself, on how Detroit has some of the best crowds in the world, before sliding into a rendition of the Seger classic “Sunspot Baby.”

They rounded out the set by hitting “Mr. Cadlillac,” “Law Machine,” and “Plain Clothes Gentleman,” and chiseled their name into Detroit’s music history with a sold-out crowd.

We usually create a setlist playlist for each band that ACRONYM does a concert review on, but many of the tracks played are not currently listed on their Spotify account, so check out their EP ‘Until The Money Runs Out’ here:
