Do a little slide-to-the-left, slide-to-the-right today in honor of DJ Casper.
The Chicago native (real name Willie Perry Jr.) was battling kidney and liver cancer since 2016. According to ABC 7 Chicago, he passed away on Monday, August 7th.
If you have a pulse, you’ve more than likely heard the “Cha Cha Slide” at an event, a wedding, or in a club. The song was originally created by Perry for his nephew as an aerobic exercise for his nephew, who worked as a fitness trainer.
Over the years, it spanned generations of listeners and participants, and in many celebratory settings, it even went as far as to replace “The Hustle” or “The Macarena.”

Rest in Peace, DJ Casper.
