Yungblud Cements Rock N’ Roll Stardom at Fillmore Detroit
Yungblud, who is currently on the rise to the top, made a stop at Fillmore Detroit on September 10 and performed to a rabid and sold-out audience, with special guest Sawyer Hill.
SAWYER HILL
We were unfamiliar with Sawyer Hill’s game, but the man is ready to be a guitar god in his own right. Vintage swag adorned him as he strut onto the stage and jammed with his backing band to warm up the crowd for what was going to be an insane performance from the headlining Yungblud.
YUNGBLUD
Yungblud took the stage, and we immediately caught a glimpse of what Ozzy Osbourne saw in this young man. The total package of rockstar swagger, notes of Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler, but on a gothy fringe that could lean either to the Prince of Darkness himself, or similar to rockers like Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell.
After performing for a hot second with a leather jacket, he stripped down to his signature leather pants, wet his hair (bef0re flinging it all over his drummer and the crowd), and went to town on the 9-minute track “Hello Heaven, Hello.” Once we left the photo pit, Yungblud powered through 14 more tracks, including “Lowlife,” “The Funeral,” and his song “Zombie,” which has a music video starring actress and Marvel icon Florence Pugh.
During “fleabag,” a fan who had a sign in the audience saying they could play the song was brought to the stage, and they smashed the guitar playing with flying colors, while impressing Dom (Yungblud’s real name) in the process.
Reported by the press in the wake of Ozzy’s death and promise delivered, Yungblud has committed to playing the 1972 Black Sabbath song “Changes” to honor Osbourne, shouting out his love for who he calls “Oz” before giving it his all. Even if you aren’t a Yungblud fan, this cover may convert you due to the passion that Dom leaves on the stage when performing it.
While many will say it’s all just TikTok and hype, Yungblud looks like he’s gonna be here for a good time and a long time, no matter what. As of September 15, it has just been announced that he will be releasing a song with Aerosmith called “My Only Angel,” a surprise considering that Aerosmith had to cancel a tour in 2024 due to Steven Tyler’s vocal health. We can’t wait to hear the song, especially with the preview we got of the pair at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
