Paramore Releases “Running Out Of Time” Music Video

The newest music video for Paramore is for “Running Out Of Time,” and it’s officially here. With the album drop on February 10, we were hoping to get another video from the trio. And boy, oh, boy, did they give us a VIDEO!

The visuals start off with Hayley Williams in the studio, presumably thinking about how to put together a song and getting bogged down with all the other thoughts in her head. All of the sudden, there’s a stack of drums and a giant guitar coming for her, and she escapes into a fantasy world through a guitar case.

The next thing you see can only be described as avant-garde, which has been a trend for these recent Paramore vids. If you showed me this and told me that Hayley really liked ‘Alice In Wonderland,’ I’d absolutely believe you. Some fans even went as far as to say some scenes might be an homage to Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For?”

Despite there not being frogs that are also drums and cymbals a la 1951, there is a lot of colors and creative costuming – complete with Hayley on stilts, while Zac Farro and Taylor York both have stilts for arms. Imagine one of those waving noodle guys at a used car wash, that’s kind of the vibe of the arms.

There are so many fashion looks in this video alone that I have to imagine people are getting their best Hayley cosplays together for their set of tour dates (see the list of shows below).

As far as the song itself, it has been noted in the press that the Paramore song was inspired by a couple of things, including Taylor Swift of all people. She told Zane Lowe the following, shared by People:

“Williams revealed that one of the new songs on the album was inspired by a hangout at Swift’s home in Nashville when both women were teenagers.

‘I remember when we were 19 and I was closer with Taylor Swift at that point because we both lived in Nashville and we’re both experiencing our own versions of real success for the first time,’ Williams, 34, told Lowe. ‘I went over to hang out. She’s a really good cook, by the way. She’s a really good cook. She has taught me how to make stuff that I did not retain at all.’

According to the Paramore frontwoman, Swift had a closet filled with wrapped presents, ready to send to people she’s thankful for.

‘I was like, ‘Oh my God, my life is so not together.’ I was like, ‘I can barely remember to send someone a card or flowers.’ There are still Christmas gifts at my house that I have not sent to my friends just sitting there in the back of my closet,’ Williams recalled.

She added: ‘I wish that I was the person that felt like I had all my shit together and I was like, ‘Oh, I had some extra time, so I’m just popping by with some flowers.’ That kind of thing, that is my idealized self.'”

The lyrics in the song are super relatable. We’re always scrambling to make the most out of 24 hours, but it also is a secret nagging thing of “Am I really just an asshole for prioritizing other things, while others are so on top of it?” Trust us when we say, Hayley, you’re not alone.
