Mammoth Rocks the Fillmore Detroit
On November 19th, Mammoth played a true rock clinic at the Fillmore Detroit, and it was one of those concerts that reminded me of exactly why live music feels so electric! Wolfgang Van Halen and his band delivered a tight, confident, and genuinely thrilling performance that showcased just how far Mammoth has come as a modern rock powerhouse.
For those who don’t know, “Mammoth WVH” was originally formed as Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo project while he was a part of Van Halen. He is the son of the legendary Eddie Van Halen and is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and frontman who recorded every instrument on the debut album himself. Now, the project has become a full band with a polished, strong rock sound that mixes classic influences with a fresh edge, and they’ve dropped the WVH for good measure. It’s melodic, heavy, emotional, and incredibly authentic.
From the moment they stepped onto the stage, I was completely locked in. They opened with “One of a Kind,” a bold and dynamic introduction that set the tone for the night. They quickly moved into “Another Celebration at the End of the World,” a fan favorite and one of their most energetic tracks.
By the time they hit “The Spell,” the crowd was fully engaged, hands up, heads nodding, moving with every beat. Their performance was full of passion and musicianship that makes Mammoth WVH stand out. Wolfgang’s vocals were strong and clear. The guitar work was sharp without being flashy. The band had a chemistry that made the entire set feel bigger than the venue.
Walking out of the Fillmore, I knew this was one of those shows that sticks with you. I will definitely attend next time they come around. Mammoth WVH delivered, and then some! Check to see where he’s headed next on the road by visiting mammoth.band/pages/tour.
