Fit For A King and Co. Bring ‘The Lonely God Tour’ to Royal Oak

On a brisk Saturday night in Royal Oak, Michigan, standing on the edge of the train tracks, the Royal Oak Music Theatre opened its doors to what would become an explosive chapter of ‘The Lonely God Tour.’ Headlined by metalcore giants Fit For a King and joined by Make Them Suffer, Spite, and 156/Silence, the air buzzed with anticipation as fans packed shoulder to shoulder for a night set to escalate in intensity with every act.

156/SILENCE

Opening the evening was 156/Silence, who wasted no time igniting the fuse. Launching straight into “Target Acquired,” the band delivered a raw, abrasive performance that immediately snapped the room to attention. The emotional weight of “Blood Loss” blended seamlessly with the aggression of “Product Placement,” striking that balance between chaos and catharsis that their fans know well. By the time they reached “Character Development (Cold Start),” the venue’s atmosphere had already shifted into a full-on battleground, proving without question that 156/Silence continues to carve their lane with unapologetic purpose.

SPITE

Up next was Spite, and from the moment the first note of “New World Killer” detonated through the theater, it felt like the room shifted on its axis. Spite brought violence in the form of sound, delivering a relentless set that had the crowd moving whether they were ready or not. “IED,” “Snap,” and “Lights Out” hit with demolition force, all fueled by a crowd that gladly welcomed the punishment. Vocalist Darius Tehrani was a vessel of pure feral carnage traversing the stage. The pit swelled and surged through every breakdown of “Kill or Be Killed” and the set-closing “Free for All,” which lived up to its title with pure, unrestrained chaos.

MAKE THEM SUFFER

As the stage darkened, an eerie ambiance settled over the room before Make Them Suffer stormed into “Ghost of Me” to kick off their set. The blend of haunting piano lines, orchestral textures, and punishing riffs cultivated an energy that was cinematic, heavy, and emotional all at once. “Ether” and “Bones” allowed the melodic layers to shine while fan favorites like “Doomswitch” and their newest track “Vortex” rattled the walls. The crowd belted along to “Erase Me,” driven by a perfect storm of metallic aggression and atmospheric beauty that Make Them Suffer has mastered with precision.

FIT FOR A KING

With anticipation peaking, the stage glowed in icy blues of a cinematic video intro as Fit For a King emerged and launched into “Begin the Sacrifice,” the opening track off of their new album ‘Lonely God,’ immediately pulling the audience into the world of their newest era. Following with “The Temple” and “Extinction,” it became clear that this performance was designed to showcase the evolution and scale behind ‘The Lonely God Tour.’ The lighting, the pacing, and the crowd engagement all felt elevated, especially during emotionally heavier moments such as “Shelter” and “Keeping Secrets.”

Although much of the set consisted of new tracks, the crowd erupted again for older staples like “Backbreaker” and the colossal punch of “Breaking the Mirror,” before the final emotional surge in “Lonely God,” the set’s initial closer. The encore brought a final wave of unity in “When Everything Means Nothing,” before the finishing blow of “Witness the End” closed the night with a full venue screaming along.

A NOTE WORTHY OF MENTION

Following the show, many fans made their way down the street to merch pop-ups hosted by both Spite and Make Them Suffer at their vans. This was done in response to the venue operating with a contracted third-party seller, which would have limited designs, withheld merch payment from their personal seller, and taken a significant cut of the bands’ gross revenue. Hosting the pop-ups ensured fans had full access to exclusive merch while proceeds went directly to the artists and crew who work tirelessly to bring tours like this to life.

From first breakdown to final breath, The Lonely God Tour delivered intensity, emotion, and a lineup without weak links. Each band added a new layer, building toward a finale that proved exactly why Fit For a King remains one of the most defining names in modern metalcore. Royal Oak showed up, the bands delivered, and the night will be one held close by everyone in the room.
