Chad Kroeger Hits Pause on Nickelback Show With Vocal Issues

Chad Kroeger of Nickelback is a trooper, but he also recognizes his fans deserve the best.

During a show in Maryland Heights, Missouri, on their ‘Get Rollin Tour,’ Chad hit pause on singing after the first song “Animals,” and apologized. Quoted by CoS:

“I can’t do this,” he said. “I cannot sit here with a fucking absolutely destroyed throat and try to make it through this show and pretend like there’s nothing fucking wrong and take your fucking money, ’cause that is wrong. I’m having a hard time hittin’ fuckin’ notes.”

“The doctor just jabbed me in the hip with some prednisone, and we all crossed our fingers backstage hoping this was gonna work. But I cannot, in good conscience, stand up here and sing these fuckin’ songs and have my voice crack and everything sound like shit. It’s driving me fucking nuts. So, I’ll tell you what. I could give it my best. I could keep just trying and we could just pull this fucker out if you want to.”

“Fuck it,” he said. “Let’s start this [song] over again. I’m just gonna give it all I’ve got.”

According to reports, the band has played other shows since without any problems, but considering Chad went under surgery in 2015 to remove a cyst on his vocal chords, we hope he’s taking the break he needs.

Nickelback is slated to be at the world’s No. 1 concert amphitheater, Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan this Sunday with Brantley Gilbert and Josh Ross.
