ACRONYM ZINE’s Unconventional Halloween Playlist

It’s Halloween, and we want to ensure your tunes are top-tier. That being said, we’ve pulled together an Unconventional Halloween Playlist that contains songs that have spooky vibes, covers of classics, and underground tracks that will get the blood pumping for the night of vampires!

Our playlist contains some of our favorites, some great interpretations, and more. Now, we will say that this playlist DOES include some “canceled” artists. Now, we don’t wish to offend, nor does this mean we support these artists, but for one night, we’re looking to suspend the frustration and let “the art separate from the artist” in artists such as Kanye West or Marilyn Manson. We’re saying it now, so we don’t have to apologize for it later.

We’re also going to make mention of this now so you don’t make a big error: This playlist is not suitable for children, so you should probably not be blaring it when you’re handing out candy. If you want to make it more kid-friendly, you can add our playlist to a new playlist in your Spotify account and remove the songs that you feel aren’t appropriate for your audience. Here’s an image of how to do that:

In addition to our fully curated playlist, we’ve checked with our contributors to pick a song, check out everyone’s picks below. Also, read into each writer’s archive of Concert Coverage by clicking their name!

AMI NICOLE

Since I’m writing this up, I’ll speak in first person. This track has always been a favorite of mine, it might be my favorite Alkaline Trio song, period. It never fails to put me in a good mood, but also gets me pumped for the Halloween season.

SAM NORK

Go figure that we’d find something Blink-182 for Sam to add to the list. We talked about it really quick and we felt this one worked better than using “I Miss You” for the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ reference… Plus, I already stole Alkaline Trio (one of Sam’s top favorite bands).

GAVIN KOENIG

Gavin covered Stephen Sanchez for ACRONYM ZINE this year so it was a perfect fit for this playlist. Plus, I could tell he was psyched about it – he sent me the title in all caps.

DYLAN SCOTT

Dylan’s gotta go with one of the classics, but let’s face it: John Carpenter was super metal.

KAYLA COLE

When I asked Kayla her pick, her first instinct was to tell me that “None of the songs I will pick will be appropriate.” I laughed and told her all of Ashnikko’s Halloween songs made the master list, so she chose Motionless In White for her pick.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to save it to your profile so you can come back to it next year!
